Second Visit to Oregon

On the 20th day of October 1920, Overton made his second trip to Oregon to visit his brother and sisters.

While in Oregon in 1894, it took from 1 p.m. on Monday until 3 p.m. on Thursday to make the trip to the seashore.  In 1921 the trip was made by his nephew, Sam Parrett, and family in four and one-half hours in an Overland.  Starting at 4 a.m., they reached there at 8:30 a.m.

Overton also visited his brother-in-law, J. Warren Simmons and family at Portland, and also his aged mother-in-law.  On the 3rd of April he helped her celebrate her 90th birthday anniversary.

On the 12th day of April at 9 a.m. Overton left Portland, Oregon and reached Council Bluffs, Iowa at 9:30 p.m. on the 14th day of April, which is quite a difference from the six months it took his parents in 1865.

He reached home for his birthday the 15th, and on that day received fifteen cards from Oregon and the following Monday, received fifteen more.
