Overton at his 80th year has seventeen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. On the 15th day of April 1923, he spent a very enjoyable birthday of which the following clipping gives an account:
Tenders Him a Surprise
On their return home from church yesterday morning, Mrs. R.L. Hunsicker and father, O.A. Ellison of Council Bluffs, Iowa, but who for the past year has made his home with his daughter, were greeted by about twenty-seven neighbors and friends, who came with well filled baskets and had taken possession of the home. The occasion was in the nature of commemorating the 80th birthday anniversary of Mr. Ellison, who is soon to return to his home and besides the sumptuous dinner which was served the day was spent in such a manner as to verify the old maxim, the best oft’ times comes nearer the last.
